While Exequiel Palacios is linked with Saudi Pro League clubs, Bayer Leverkusen are now lining up to complete the transfer of his compatriot Ezequiel Fernández from Al Qadsiah. Fabrizio Romano is reporting that the club have agreed personal terms with the Argentinian central midfielder.

Equi Fernandez was close to joining Real Sociedad earlier in the transfer market, but the deal collapsed in the final stages. The 23-year-old surprised the footballing world when he preferred a move to Saudi Arabia instead of lots of offers from Europe following his solid performance in the Paris Olympics.

The former Boca Juniors player missed only two league games last season for the newly-promoted Al Qadsiah. However, he was absent from the team when they lost a Super Cup semi-final to Enzo Millot’s Al-Ahli in Hong Kong yesterday. The former Stuttgart midfielder scored on his debut to send Al-Ahli through to the final, where they'll face Kingsley Coman's Al-Nassr.
