“Janis has been there before; he did very well. He is also now playing Champions League football in Salzburg.” Said Nagelsmann when speaking about Blaswich.
“Of course, we also have many others on the list who can fight the battle for the number one spot until Marc (ter Stegen) comes back.”
Blaswich, who is currently on loan in Austria with RB Salzburg from RB Leipzig, was last in the national squad almost twelve months ago, with Germany losing 3-2 and 2-0 last November.
Another who was in that respective squad was Serge Gnabry, who is also being re-integrated under his former coach in München.
“Serge has now managed to stabilise himself in terms of his physical condition and performance after a very difficult year with an incredible number of injuries.” Mentioned Nagelsmann.
“He has had a lot of good games in pre-season and now in the Bundesliga and the Champions League. We are pleased to be able to fall back on his qualities.”
After a period of inconsistency under Thomas Tuchel, Gnabry has had a fantastic start to life under Vincent Kompany, regaining his starting position under the Belgian coach, netting twice and providing two assists in the Bundesliga thus far.
