Report: Eintracht Frankfurt in talks to sign Götze

Eintracht Frankfurt are understood to be looking into the possibility of bringing Mario Götze back to Germany.

According to Bild, Eintracht have held initial talks to sign the 30-year-old PSV midfielder.

The German tabloid claims that Götze has a €4 million release clause, which expires at the end of June, with SL Benfica also said to be interested.

Götze has repeatedly emphasized that he wants to play for a Champions League club from one of the top leagues against in the future.

Eintracht fit the bill, having qualified for the Champions League thanks to their Europa League final victory over Rangers.

Götze joined PSV from Borussia Dortmund in 2020 and has featured 77 times for the Dutch side with 18 goals and 18 assists to his name. His contract expires in 2024.

The former Bayern and BVB midfielder has featured 63 times for Germany, scoring 17 goals, including the winner in the World Cup final against Argentina in 2014.
