Reports: Freiburg consider bringing back either Müller or Schwolow as back up keeper

The local Badische Zeitung and Germany's main sporting tabloid report that SC Freiburg are interested in bringing back two former keepers to back up Noah Atubolu next season.
SC Freiburg are, according to two sources, considering brining back either Florian Müller (property of VfB Stuttgart) and Alexander Schwolow (recently returned to Hertha BSC) as a #2 net-minder next year. Both players formerly started in-between the sticks for Freiburg and are well known to have no future with their present clubs.

Müller served as Christian Streich's #1 whilst on-loan from FSV Mainz 05 during the 2020/21 campaign, the year after Schwolow departed on a big-money transfer to Hertha. Stuttgart are keen to shed both Müller and Fabian Bredlow after the current campaign concludes; irrespective of what happens against Hamburger SV in the promotion-relegation playoffs.

Hertha cannot realistically hope to retain Schwolow in the second league, certainly not whilst he draws a reported €2.5 million salary. Streich recently conveyed his respect for the 30-year-old whom he once trained at the SCF youth academy ahead of a league fixture against FC Schalke 04. Germany's main sporting tabloid also reports that Freiburg are considering Düsseldorf's Florian Kastenmeier as Noah Atubolu's new back up.
