Bayer 04 Leverkusen have confirmed that they have extended the contract of Arthur ahead of schedule through until June 30, 2031.

The 23-year-old's previous contract ran until the summer of 2028, but the full-back has now put pen to paper on a long-term deal at Bayer 04.

"We see Arthur as a player who, with his footballing abilities and his passion for Bayer 04, can and should significantly shape the future of the club," said director of sport Simon Rolfes.

"Unfortunately, Arthur has suffered some serious injuries up to this point, which have somewhat slowed his promising path to becoming a top player.

"We want to continue to drive his positive development forward together this season and are delighted that we can build on this fantastic footballer and person for the long term," he added.

The Brazilian was equally happy to extend his deal with the Rhineland club who he feels has a “family-like atmosphere and has given me a home”.

“The contract extension is an impressive show of confidence and demonstrates how much they believe in me. I will repay that trust with performance and total commitment,” he said.
