Bayer 04 Leverkusen have sealed the capture of Tim Oermann from relegated Bundesliga outfit VfL Bochum.

The versatile defender has penned a contract with Die Werkself until 2029, but will immediately head out on loan to Austrian champions Sturm Graz to gain further first-team experience.

"Tim Oermann is a very talented and versatile player who represents the strengthening of our squad over the long term. He has already demonstrated his ability in 50 Bundesliga matches. We are happy that we have been able to achieve a sensible agreement for everybody involved," said Bayer 04 managing director for sport Simon Rolfes.

"The loan to Graz gives Tim the opportunity to further improve in a top team and also gain important international experience which will be a very good starting point for him at Bayer 04 over the long term."

    Oermann himself welcomed the move:

"It's a great arrangement for me. Graz are very ambitious, that and the level of the club will help me. I'm already looking forward to being able to show my ability at one of the best clubs in Germany in a year’s time."

Oermann will be part of Germany’s squad for the upcoming U21 European Championship finals, which will take place in Slovakia from 11 to 28 June.
