Harry Kane opted to leave Tottenham and England to join Bayern Munich back in 2023 – a move he probably doesn't regret today, given the success he has enjoyed with the German champions.

Thomas Tuchel was at the helm at Bayern at the time, and Kane has previously revealed that the current England coach was an influential factor in his decision to make the switch to Munich.

Speaking at a press conference (via The Athletic) after Kane starred with a goal and an assist in England’s 3-2 World Cup round-of-16 win over Mexico, Tuchel revealed that he had to convince sceptics to get the deal done.

“He’s a unique player and personality. I fought the fight to bring him to Bayern Munich, against other opinions,” said Tuchel, who believes the move has helped Kane take the next step as a player.

“It was the right step, going into a demanding culture,” he pointed out.

“He plays a very intense game with [Bayern coach] Vincent Kompany which helps him be in the right shape physically. The titles took a huge weight off his shoulders. It’s beautiful to see how devoted, what a team player he is.”

Kane has scored a remarkable 146 goals in 147 games for Bayern.
