Germany were made to fight hard for their 2-1 win over Côte d’Ivoire on Saturday night, coming from a goal down to secure all three points and book their place in the knockout stages.
Deniz Undav was the key difference-maker for Julian Nagelsmann’s side, scoring both goals as a substitute as Germany turned the match around.
In light of this, it was no surprise that Undav was named Player of the Match after the final whistle.
With his brace, the 29-year-old took his tally to nine goals in just 11 appearances for Germany, strengthening his case to start the final group-stage game against Ecuador on Thursday.
