Dortmund dealt blow as Colombian talent opts for Liverpool move

Samuel Martínez was apparently on BVB's radar for next summer but sticking points on a fee caused bother.

Borussia Dortmund have been dealt a transfer setback after Samuel Martínez has elected to join Liverpool this summer instead. 

The 17-year-old talent has signed a five-year contract – which was first reported by AS Colombia journalist Pipe Sierra.

Dortmund couldn't meet the transfer demands, despite having reached an agreement in principle with the attacking midfielder.

With the opportunity afforded to them to swoop in, the Merseyside club will now pay around €860,000 for Martínez's transfer fee. 

However, it must be noted that the youngster still has to undergo a medical and get his visa documents to complete the deal.

Sky Germany further understands that the Colombian prodigy one of the Westphalian club's targets for next summer.

At club level, Martínez is plays for the Atlético Nacional U-20 side and just helped his nation with the U-17 Copa America with 3 assists.
