Glasner reportedly the internal favourite to take the reins at Bayer Leverkusen

Bayer Leverkusen aims to finalize its coaching decision by early June, with BILD suggesting Oliver Glasner is now the top candidate internally.

Werner Wenning, the club's top football boss, wants to know what a new coach would do better and his approval depends on this.

These processes will take place before a third coach is appointed within a year, following Erik ten Hag and seemingly now Hjulmand too.

However, Hjulmand staying in the dugout is not entirely out of the question despite missing out on Champions League qualification.

Although it's believed keeping the Dane would send out a completely the wrong message and contradict the club's own principles.

As for previously linked candidate, Míchel of FC Girona, it appears increasingly likely that Ajax Amsterdam will be first to his signature.

The Spaniard himself is inclined to join the Eredivise giants, who were apparently more proactive in their negotiations.

Meanwhile, suggestions that Brazilian coach Felipe Luis could take over are also believed to be well wide of the mark.
