Götze, who has been at Frankfurt since 2022, could extend his deal if he reaches a certain number of appearances this season.

Mario Götze has an option in his contract, which runs until 2026, according to Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg.

That option is linked to appearances, but it will be difficult for him to reach the required number this season.

Initial talks between Markus Krösche and Götze have already taken place. They plan to sit down again in the winter.

In principle, both sides can imagine an extension which would see the German attacking midfielder remain at the Hessen club.

However, a move to the United States and the MLS is currently not an option for the 33-year-old, as the report states.
