Bayer Leverkusen will have to manage without full-back Arthur for the next few weeks, the club confirmed this afternoon.
The Brazilian tore a ligament in his left ankle during yesterday's Bundesliga meeting against Mainz 05 which ended in a 1-1 draw.
Arthur – clearly feeling unable to continue – was replaced by Kasper Hjulmand who introduced Axel Tape to fill the void.
A decision on whether to operate on Arthur will be made soon after team doctors take a closer look with further tests to follow.
The 22-year-old will complete his rehab at the Werkstatt, the Leverkusen training and rehabilitation centre over the coming weeks.
Leverkusen are experiencing an injury crisis on the right flank as Arthur joins Lucas Vásquez who also picked up an injury last week.
