Since taking over at Mainz a year ago, Bo Henriksen has led the club from the brink of relegation to the top half of the Bundesliga.

The Danish coach has now been rewarded for his impressive work with a new contract until 2027.

"Bo Henriksen and Mainz 05 came together last year in a very difficult sporting situation for the club. Together with the team, he mastered this with courageous football and bravery," said Mainz director of sport Christian Heidel.

"In his positive and emotional way, Bo has also taken the whole club and the city with him on this journey - he is simply a perfect fit for us. We are very much looking forward to working together in the long term.

Henriksen commented:

"From my first day I realized that the job here is special. You're not just part of a club, you're part of a city. You can feel the passion, the pride in the team, the trust and the belief in us in every corner of Mainz.

“It is wonderful that we can make so many people happy here with what we do. What a crazy year full of emotions - I am happy that we will continue our journey together for another two and a half years.”

Mainz are currently sixth in the Bundesliga.
