Bayern concluded their pre-season tour of Asia on a positive note with a 2-1 win over Premier League outfit Aston Villa, courtesy of goals from Kim Min-Jae and a stunning strike from Luis Diaz.

Manuel Neuer completed the full 90 minutes in goal and was delighted with both the result and the performance against quality opposition.

“It was important for us to win this game against a top Premier League side that also qualified for the Champions League and to deliver a strong performance. The conditions weren’t easy, but we presented ourselves very well, and I’m very satisfied. We always strive to improve and get the basics right. That’s what the young players coming into the squad are trying to learn as quickly as possible. They showed themselves in a very positive light.”

Neuer also highlighted the significance of Bayern’s visit to Asia and the connection the squad shares with supporters across the region.

“You could see what you get back from it. The fans support us, so it’s great for us to be here and present ourselves.”

The veteran goalkeeper also spoke about the continuity within the squad and how the new arrivals are integrating ahead of the new campaign.

“It’s important that the core of the squad has remained largely unchanged, while we’ve added new players who strengthen the team. We still have a couple of friendlies ahead of us as we prepare for the Super Cup. We’re taking that very seriously, and I think you could see that again today.”
