Former Bayern München CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has hit out at Niklas Süle and Marcel Sabitzer in an interview with Sky Germany.

Süle will be leaving the club as a free agent this summer after turning down a new deal, but Rummenigge isn't too worried about his departure.

"Bayern are well-staffed in defense even without Niklas Süle," Rummenigge said and added:

"He has always been a useful player. The problem is that he has never really established himself at his position.

"If you line up the best players in the team, Niklas Süle is not there at the moment. He should question himself," added the former Bayern chief.

With regard to Sabitzer, who has struggled to live up to the expectations following his €15 million switch from RB Leipzig last summer, Rummenigge said:

"He was a luxury transfer. He hasn't improved the squad in the way we might have imagined."
