Timo Werner is now officially back in Saxony, receiving the same no. 11 tricot he donned shortly before leaving Leipzig for the Isle two years ago. The German Red Bulls officially introduced their one-time star player on Tuesday evening. All German media sources confirm the previously reported upon transfer fee RB will pay Chelsea F.C. for the German national team striker.

"I'm very happy to be return to RB Leipzig again with immediate effect," Werner noted at his introduction, "It was a great time from 2016 to 2020, during which we stirred a sensation as league newcomers. At the time, it was a fitting farewell for me to leave as the record goalscorer. But that also belongs to the past. I'm looking ahead now as RB Leipzig and I have developed over the past two years."

According to German tabloid Sport Bild, Werner will earn a salary of approximately €10 million annually on his new contract, which runs through 2026. If true, this is actually a significant reduction from the €16 to €18 million he made whilst playing for the London Blues. Werner will still receive as much as his likely striking partner Christopher Nkunku, who collects the same amount under his recent contract extension.

Werner has netted 90 tallies for Die Roten Bullen since joining the club from his native Stuttgart. At the introductory presser, the newly returned forward gleefully noted that he planned to become the first RB attacker to crack the 100-goal mark "very soon".
