Sport Bild Report: Hertha look to land Undav on loan

Germany's main sporting tabloid reports that Hertha BSC are among the interested Bundesliga parties angling for a loan of underused Brighton striker Deniz Undav.
With just 19 goals scored through 15 rounds of the 2022/23 campaign, there should really be no question that 15th-placed Hertha BSC find themselves in need of some additional attacking assistance in the coming January transfer window. A recent report from Germany's "Sport Bild" suggests that Fredi Bobic and the Hertha front office have their eyes on German striker Deniz Undav.

The Achim native came up through the Werder Bremen and TSV Havelse youth system before eventually kicking professionally for SV Meppen in the 3. Bundesliga. After a successful career in the German lower divisions, Undav moved to Belgium in 2020. The now 26-year-old has 25 Jupiler Pro league goals under his belt.

EPL side Brighton & Hove Albion purchased Undav in the January 2022 transfer window, immediately loaning him back to Belgium's Royale Union Saint-Gilloise for the duration of the season. Since arriving on the Isle on a permanent basis ahead of the current campaign, he has been unable to crack the starting XI and logged just 171 minutes for the Seagulls thus far.

Sky also reports that Brighton are considering another loan-out for their €7 million purchase, going so far as to say that "several" top-tier German sides are interested. The Sky report doesn't offer up any further specifics. Undav - a German of Turkish heritage - has also been linked with Galatasaray Istanbul.
