Eintracht Frankfurt have confirmed the appointment of Dino Toppmöller as their new head coach.

The 42-year-old replaces the departing Oliver Glasner on a contract until 2026.

"It was only a matter of time before Dino Toppmöller became a head coach in the Bundesliga," said Eintracht board member for sport Markus Krösche on the appointment of the former Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig assistant coach.

"We are delighted to have won him over with his expertise, his deep understanding of the game and his high level of interpersonal skills. In recent years, he has gained valuable experience and celebrated successes in various roles."

Toppmöller, who spent the 2002/03 season with Eintracht as an active player, is quoted as saying:

"The development of Eintracht Frankfurt in recent years has been impressive. Because of my past, I have always had a special relationship with Eintracht and have always followed the club's progress. I am all the more delighted to be part of Eintracht once again and look forward to working with the coaching staff, the team and everyone at the club to continue this positive development. The discussions with Markus Krösche and Timmo Hardung were always trusting and constructive.

"The path I have chosen suits me, we have the same vision of football. As a player, I was able to stand on the pitch in the Waldstadion in 2003 and celebrate the 6-3 win over Reutlingen. Now, to return to this club in the heart of Europe, with its great emotion and unique fans, as head coach, is both an honor and a challenge for me. I'm sure that we will continue to experience great football celebrations together in the future."
