On Wednesday, Bayer Leverkusen announced the signing of Emiliano Buendia on loan from Aston Villa for the remainder of the season.

Bayer 04 coach Xabi Alonso is delighted to have Buendia at his disposal and expects the former Getafe man to make an immediate impact.

"I know him well from Spain. He played top games at Norwich and also at Aston Villa," Xabi Alonso told reporters after Leverkusen's 2-0 win over Sparta Prague in the Champions League on Wednesday.

"He comes from a high level of football, so I don't think he needs too much time to adapt. He can help us almost immediately," the Spaniard added.

The 28-year-old attacking midfielder has scored three goals in 20 appearances for Aston Villa this season.
