Kaiserslautern ended a three-game scoreless and pointless run in their last home game of the season against Arminia Bielefeld. The captain Marlon Ritter led by example as he converted a penalty-kick before assisting the second goal for Simon Asta in a dominant first-half display.

Tim Handwerker was penalized for a foul inside the box on Maxwell Gyamfi in the 15th minute. Ritter tied his last season’s eight-goal tally with a confident finish from the spot. The 31-year-old then provided the assist for Asta’s first goal since he was at Greuther Fürth in the 2023/24 season.

Kaiserslautern had two golden opportunities to extend their lead in the second-half, but Norman Bassette and Dion Hofmeister were unfortunate. The Belgian striker celebrated his goal by taking off his shirt before it was later disallowed for an offside. The 16-year-old midfielder Hofmeister came close to scoring his first goal in his third 2. Bundesliga appearance in the last action of the game.

The hosts momentarily climbed to sixth place with their three points after three defeats. Bielefeld could find themselves in the bottom three at the end of the matchday, and their captain Mael Corboz will be unavailable in the last matchday against Hertha BSC due to five yellow cards.
