1. FC Union Berlin coach Steffen Baumgart has been handed a one-game ban after his sending off against Eintracht Frankfurt at the weekend.

The 53-year-old has also been fined €15,000.

Baumgart was sent off for throwing a paper ball onto the pitch, and the German Football Association (DFB) also reviewed an incident in which he showed his middle finger.

However, since he apologised and the DFB sports court determined the gesture was not aimed at a specific person, he escaped with just a one-game suspension.

As a result, Baumgart will miss Union’s clash with his former employer Hamburger SV on Sunday.
