Bayer Leverkusen may have to do without Christian Kofane for several weeks this winter.
The 19-year-old forward has been included in Cameroon’s preliminary squad for the Africa Cup of Nations, which takes place from December 21 to January 18.
According to Bild, however, Bayer Leverkusen have yet to receive official confirmation of the call-up from the federation.
Kofane previously turned down several invitations to join the Cameroonian national team amid reports that he was caught up in a power struggle between FECAFOOT president Samuel Eto’o and Marc Brys, who was recently sacked as coach.
Kofane has impressed for Leverkusen since his move from Albacete last summer, racking up five goals and five assists in 18 games.
