Nils-Ole Book will remain sporting director of second-division football club SV Elversberg, multiple sources have reported.

The Saarland club announced that the 39-year-old has extended his contract early but did not disclose the terms agreed.

Book's decision to remain at Elversberg is massive for the 2.Bundesliga side who are hungry to gain promotion this season.

Following Roland Virkus's resignation, Book was touted by the media as a top candidate to succeed Gladbach's sporting director.

"Over the past few years, we've built something together at SV Elversberg that we can be proud of. We've celebrated unforgettable successes, milestones, and overcome major challenges.

“A bond has developed and mutual trust has grown, which I greatly value and which, for me, is a prerequisite for a shared and successful future,” Book said.
