Eintracht Frankfurt vs. Gladbach preview: Die Adler targeting third straight win

Frankfurt will look to claim a third consecutive victory when they play host to Borussia Mönchengladbach in Saturday’s Bundesliga contest.

Eintracht Frankfurt

Frankfurt have bounced back from a 2-0 defeat against Borussia Dortmund to get their campaign up and running with back-to-back victories. Dino Toppmöller’s side recorded a 3-1 win over Heidenheim, before they claimed a narrow victory over Wolfsburg last weekend.  Frankfurt looked set to play out a draw after Omar Marmoush saw his opener cancelled out by Ridle Baku. However, there was to be one final twist as Marmoush netted an 82nd-minute winner to condemn his former club to a 2-1 defeat.

After claiming consecutive wins, die Adler will now attempt to record three consecutive Bundesliga victories for the first time since December 2021. Frankfurt will fancy their chances of taking something from the contest after avoiding defeat in each of their last six meetings with Gladbach. They can also take confidence from the fact they won 2-1 in last season’s home clash with Gladbach.

Team News

Frankfurt will go into Saturday’s fixture without the injured trio of Kevin Trapp, Mario Götze and Oscar Höjlund.

Gladbach

Gladbach have experienced a mixed start to the season, having won one and lost two of their opening three matches. They conceded a late goal to lose 3-2 to Bayer Leverkusen in their league opener, before they recorded a 2-0 away win over Bochum. However, they were unable to back up their away success as they fell to a second straight home defeat in last weekend's home meeting with Stuttgart. Die Fohlen went into the break on level terms after Alassane Pléa cancelled out Deniz Undav's opener.  However, Ermedin Demirović netted a second-half brace to condemn Gladbach to a 3-1 defeat.

Die Fohlen may have experienced disappointment on home turf last weekend, but they now head on their travels with the chance to record consecutive away league wins for the first time since March/April 2022. However, claiming three points may be easier said than done because Gladbach have not beaten Frankfurt since clinching a 4-1 win over April 2021.
