When Florian Wirtz suffered an ankle injury earlier this month, it was suggested that he could return in the first week of April at the earliest.

However, it looks as though the Werkself will have to wait a little longer for the 21-year-old to return to action.

According to Sport Bild, Wirtz is expected to be back in the squad for the game against St. Pauli on 20 April.

That would mean he'd have five more Bundesliga games to play this season - as well as the DFB-Pokal final, should Leverkusen beat Arminia Bielefeld in the semi-finals.

Wirtz sustained the injury in Leverkusen's 0-2 defeat at the hands of Werder Bremen on March 8.
