Kane reacts to suggestions he played through injury during Euros

Bayern Munich star Harry Kane has responded to claims that he was battling an injury during England's European Championship campaign.

Harry Kane came into the European Championship after spending time on the sidelines with a back injury suffered in action for Bayern Munich towards the end of the season.

Although he finished Euro 2024 as joint Golden Boot winner with three goals, the England captain faced plenty of criticism throughout the tournament, which ended with him being taken off after around an hour in the 2-1 final defeat to Spain.

Some have suggested that the back injury affected Kane's performances, but the 30-year-old didn't want to discuss those claims when asked.

“No, it’s not time to talk about personal things,” he told BBC Radio 5 Live.

"The tournament plays out in different situations. You deal with a lot as a player throughout these tournaments. Everyone is dealing with issues and you’re at your maximum physical capabilities. It was just the way the game panned out today and the way the tournament’s gone.

“Of course, from a personal point of view, I would have loved to have played better tonight and it would’ve been a different outcome, but unfortunately it wasn’t.”
