Neuer finally makes Germany comeback: "It's a wonderful feeling"

Bayern Munich veteran Manuel Neuer was delighted to finally make his comeback for the German national team in Monday's 0-0 draw with Ukraine.

Manuel Neuer made his first appearance for Germany in over a year and a half in Monday's 0-0 draw with Ukraine.

The 38-year-old goalkeeper suffered a broken leg after the World Cup in Qatar in December 2022 and was due to make his international comeback in March this year, but a muscle injury threw a spanner in the works.

On Monday night in Nürnberg, Neuer was finally back in goal for Germany, and he thoroughly enjoyed it, even if the result wasn't what he had hoped for.

"It feels wonderful to be back. I've really missed it. Unfortunately we didn't win today," Neuer said in an interview with German television.

Neuer stressed that Germany must be sharper in front of goal at the start of the Euros than they were in Monday's friendly against Ukraine.

"Unfortunately, we didn't take our chances and that has to change in the group stage," he said.

"On the positive side, we were good and stable defensively and even though we made a lot of substitutions, we kept our structure and dominated the game until the end."

Germany will kick off Euro 2024 against Scotland on June 14.
