Moukoko denounces racism after Germany's U21 Euro opener

Youssoufa Moussoufa has revealed that he and Germany U21 teammate Jessic Ngankam were subjected to racist abuse on social media following their missed penalties in Germany's 1-1 draw with Israel in their opening match.
Borussia Dortmund striker Youssoufa Moukoko has spoken out against racism following Germany's 1-1 draw with Israel in their U21 European Championship opener.

He and Hertha BSC's Jessic Ngankam each missed a penalty in the game and were subjected to racist abuse on social media as a result.

"When we win, we are all Germans. If we lose, these monkey comments come. Jessic got them, I got them. It's just not part of football," Moukoko said in a post-match interview.

"We're trying to help the team. When you get messages like that, it's disgusting," added Moukoko, who was born in Cameroon.

"This time it hurt. No player misses a penalty on purpose."

He pointed out that it's far from the first time this has happened to him.

"I'm starting to have had enough. It's time to make a statement against it."
