Germany coach Joachim Löw has revealed that he wanted to call up Serge Gnabry for the World Cup in 2014.

Gnabry, who was just 18 at the time, impressed at Arsenal after coming through the youth ranks at the London club, but then got hit by a long-term injury.

"I actually wanted to take Serge to the World Cup in 2014 when he was 18. Per Mertesacker and Mesut Özil told me that he was crazy in training and that he had a lot of pace. But then he suffered an injury," Löw said at a press conference ahead of Germany's Euro 2020 qualifier against Estonia on Sunday.

Gnabry eventually made his debut for 'Die Mannschaft' in 2016 and has gone on to score 10 goals in 11 appearances.
