Marcel Halstenberg has mostly been used as a centre-back in the second half of the season, forming a strong three-man defence with Lukas Klostermann and Dayot Upamecano.

But although the RB Leipzig defender says he has no problem with his new position, he underlines that he prefers to play as a full-back.

"I was able to cope with the change of position quite quickly. You have to be active all the time, both defensively and offensively. The coach demands that at best, you play like a number 10, because you have a lot of possession and the game ahead of you," Halstenberg told Kicker.

"I'm surprisingly comfortable with playing in a three-man defence, partly because we have had so much success with it. But I still feel better when I play down the line, because it gets you much more involved offensively and makes you a bigger goal threat," he added.

Halstenberg has played 28 games for RB Leipzig this season, racking up three goals and two assists.
