After a spell on the sidelines, Davies has been back in full training since Monday, and the 20-year-old has made a good impression on his new coach.

"'Phonzy is back'. He is a option to start, but it's probably too soon for him to play the full 90 minutes," Nagelsmann told reporters and added:

"I want to wait for our final training session. It's important, especially with an eye on next week, that he gets playing time."

Nagelsmann also expressed frustration at the ankle injury that is expected to keep Benjamin Pavard out for several weeks.

"It's very frustrating. He made a good impression and was going to be part of the squad. He's a very variable player. Now, he's set for a few weeks on the sidelines. But, with Sarr, Süle and Stanisic, we have several players, who could replace him."
