Borussia Mönchengladbach's upcoming match against SC Freiburg this Sunday will not be a final game for interim coach Eugen Polanski.

Even if the Foals were to lose against the Breisgauers on Matchday 6, the 39-year-old will remain in office for the time being.

According to BILD, Polanski will remain on the sidelines after the international break to face Union Berlin (October 17) and Bayern Munich (October 25).

Club bosses Stefan Stegemann and Markus Aretz reportedly communicated this plan to the team following Roland Virkus' resignation.

"The first stone that must fall is the new sporting director. We want to find him as soon as possible.

“The coaching question remains open until then," said Stegemann, in a  recent interview with the Rheinische Post.

Meanwhile, candidates to succeed Virkus include Jörg Schmadtke, Jan Schlaudraff, Lutz Pfannenstiel, Martin Stranzl, and Jonas Boldt.
