"No progress at all" in Bayern's contract talks with Kimmich

There have been suggestions recently that Bayern Munich are close to agreeing a new contract with Joshua Kimmich. However, local publication AZ now reports that there is currently "no progress at all" in the talks.

On Tuesday, Italian transfer market insider Fabrizio Romano claimed that Bayern Munich are "advancing to the final stages" in their bid to extend Joshua Kimmich's contract beyond the summer and that they have submitted an improved offer to the 30-year-old.

However, that's not the case, according to AZ, who reports that there has been "no progress at all" in negotiations between the parties, and that Kimmich's future remains up in the air.

Bayern recently announced expensive contract extensions for Alphonso Davies and Jamal Musiala, and must ensure they do not stray from the path of financial stability.

They are also working on an extension for Dayot Upamecano and must decide whether to renew the expiring contracts of Sven Ulreich, Thomas Müller, Leroy Sané and Eric Dier.

"We have taken clear positions and now we have to see if we can put that into a contract. I can't force anyone. I can only say what we would like," Bayern board member for sport Max Eberl said recently.
