After being dropped from the squad ahead of the 2023/24 Bundesliga promotion-relegation playoffs, long-time VfL Bochum keeper Manuel Riemann has been forbidden from training with Bochum's first team. The 35-year-old has had to make do with the U21 sessions whilst the Revierklub ostensibly found a new taker for him. While there were rumored to be some sides interested in picking him up this summer, Riemann has remained on the VfL roster.

A labor court in Bochum confirmed on Tuesday afternoon that Riemann had filed a trade complaint against his club. Riemann wishes to be allowed to partake in full squad training again for the time being. The local arbitration body has confirmed that a hearing on the matter has been scheduled for this coming Friday at 12:20 p.m. Bochum have thus far not issued comment on the matter.
