Rolfes comments on reports linking Palacios with Barcelona

Simon Rolfes has responded to reports linking Exequiel Palacios with FC Barcelona.

Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Exequiel Palacios recently admitted he's flattered by reports linking him with Barcelona, speaking to D-Sports Radio in his native Argentina:

“It's an honor that a club as big as Barcelona has taken notice of me. But at the moment I'm concentrating on the national team. We've had a very demanding season and to talk about another club would be disrespectful to Leverkusen.”

However, Leverkusen have no plans to let the Argentine midfielder go.

"One thing is clear: We are planning with Exequiel Palacios for the coming season," Leverkusen's managing director for sport, Simon Rolfes, emphasized in an interview with Kicker.

Die Werkself are certainly not under any pressure to sell Palacios, as the 25-year-old is under contract until 2028.

Palacios scored six goals and provided five assists in 36 games for Leverkusen in the 2023/24 season.

He joined the club from River Plate for a reported 17 million fee in January 2020.
