Report: Sahin's decisions questioned in Dortmund dressing room
Borussia Dortmund suffered their first defeat of the season in unacceptable fashion against VfB Stuttgart on Sunday, losing 5-1.
Bild now reports that some of the decisions made by new coach Nuri Sahin have left the players scratching their heads.
One of them is the use of Marcel Sabitzer on the right wing, despite the fact that the Austrian international prefers to play in the middle of the park - as he recently emphasized publicly.
There's also confusion about why Sahin is experimenting so much in defense, switching between three and four at the back.
Another point of criticism is the substitutions that Sahin (did not) make during the game. The fact that Maximilian Beier spent 90 minutes on the bench was incomprehensible to some players.
Other questions include why Julien Duranville didn't get a chance against Stuttgart and why Felix Nmecha was preferred to captain Emre Can.
Sahin himself had strong words after the defeat.
"I will never see such a face again. This is not how we as Borussia Dortmund should play," the 36-year-old said.
“You don't see this coming. Fact is: Borussia Dortmund can't perform like that. That was a non-performance.”
