On Wednesday, reports emerged that VfB Stuttgart had rejected a second offer from Bayern Munich for Nick Woltemade, worth €50 million fixed plus an additional €5 million in add-ons.

Speaking to Sky Germany later that evening, VfB Stuttgart CEO Alexander Wehrle made it clear that the club don't want to negotiate with Bayern regarding the 22-year-old striker.

“We’re not negotiating with Bayern Munich,” Wehrle stated bluntly.

“I’m always happy to exchange views with Jan-Christian Dreesen (Bayern CEO), whom I respect from our time together on the DFL board. But I made my position very clear five weeks ago, and nothing has changed. Nick Woltemade will be playing football with us next season.”

However, Wehrle left a small door open for a potential sale.

“If something extraordinary were to happen, we are all professional enough to sit down at the table," he said.

When pressed on what would count as “something extraordinary,” Wehrle didn't want to go into detail.

“We don’t even want to sell him, so I’m not the right person to be naming a number,” he said.

“We want to start the season with him. He’s a key player for what is a special year for us with the Europa League. So it’s not on us,” Wehrle added, before reiterating:

“If something extraordinary happens - from any club, and this isn’t just about Bayern Munich - we are professional enough to sit down at the table.”
