Bayer Leverkusen were no match for Bayern Munich on Saturday, with the German champions cruising to a 3-0 victory despite resting several key players.

Speaking to Sky after the game, which saw Bayern already 3-0 up at halftime, Bayer captain Robert Andrich expressed his disappointment at how his side approached the match.

“At halftime, we already said to ourselves, ‘Phew, this is going to be really tough.’ We survived the first few minutes okay, but in the first half we were never really in a mode to match Bayern,” said Andrich.

“We were far too sluggish. And when you’re 2–3–0 down here, it’s almost impossible to get back.”

The hard-working midfielder highlighted a lack of intensity in Leverkusen’s movement:

“We moved a lot, but much of the time at the same pace. The intensity was missing. Bayern simply took advantage of that. The 3–0 goal is a perfect example they played quickly, we were chasing. That just doesn’t work.”

Even though Leverkusen looked better in the second half, they never really threatened the home side.

“Bayern, of course, deservedly won in the end,” Andrich admitted.
