Liverpool FC have officially announced the signing of right-back Jeremie Frimpong, both clubs have announced.

The 24-year-old right-sided defender has signed a long-term contract at Anfield Road until 2030.

Liverpool took full advantage of the €35-40million release clause in the Netherlands international's contract.

Frimpong is expected to compensate for the departure of Trent Alexander-Arnold, who just made the switch to Real Madrid.

Frimpong voiced a fairwell message: “[My time at Bayer Leverkusen is] a very special stage in what I hope will be a long professional career.

"It's incredible what we've all achieved here together. The double victory was a moving and unforgettable event for me because very few people believed we could do it.

“I will always be a Leverkusener. This club remains an important part of my personal history, and I thank Bayer 04 and the fans for a fantastic time,” he added.
