England opened their 2026 World Cup campaign with an impressive 4-2 victory over Croatia. Following the match, a Premier League and England legend singled out one player for special praise.

Former Manchester United and England defender Rio Ferdinand hailed Harry Kane for his outstanding performance, saying:

“Harry is our only genuinely world-class player right now. There's others teetering around it but he's the absolutely world-class player in the squad. If you're looking at players who sit right at the top table and are there comfortably? He is that for England!”

Kane continues to cement his place among England’s all-time greats. The Bayern Munich striker has made 115 appearances for the national team, the third-most in England history, trailing only Wayne Rooney (120) and Peter Shilton (125). With 81 goals to his name, Kane is also England’s all-time leading scorer.

England will look to build on their strong start when they face Ghana on June 23 as they continue their pursuit of World Cup glory.
