While it has been confirmed that Leon Goretzka will leave Bayern Munich when his contract expires at the end of the season, his next destination remains unclear.

Within Germany, Bayer Leverkusen have been mentioned as suitors, but the 31-year-old admits he is more interested in testing himself abroad.

“Maybe it’s my last chance to go abroad. I really want to play truly competitive football again. We’ll see what opportunities come up. I’m completely relaxed about it. I’ll just let it all happen,” Goretzka told Sky Germany.

England, with Arsenal reportedly in the running, and Italy are both potential destinations. The German international gives no clear preference, but stresses that the weather won’t influence his decision.

“Who doesn’t like the sun? But I certainly won’t base my next move on the weather. I’m sure we’ll find something nice,” said the midfielder.
