To the delight of Kasper Hjulmand, Bayer Leverkusen maintained their fine form with a 3-1 win over a rather deflated VfL Wolfsburg side on Saturday afternoon.

“We’ve very pleased with the three points. It’s not easy playing here. We did very well in the first half," said the Danish coach in his post-match press conference.

"We gave ourselves the three-goal lead with a lot of flexibility and possession going forward. I’m not entirely satisfied with the second half.

"We were too passive in possession and got lucky with the disallowed goal – that could’ve changed everything. We also had the chance to make it 4-1.

“Overall we can play better than we did in the second half. A 3-1 win away to Wolfsburg is obviously good and therefore we’re very pleased with the three points,” Hjulmand added.

Leverkusen now must turn their focus to Uefa Champions League action as they prepare to travel to England for a big clash with Manchester City on Tuesday.
