Jamal Musiala took another step on the road back to top form with a goal and an assist in Bayern Munich's 5-0 Bundesliga win over FC St. Pauli at the weekend.

Speaking to Sky Germany after the game, Bayern coach Vincent Kompany acknowledged that Musiala is still not at his best after returning from the serious injury he suffered at the Club World Cup last summer.

However, that is not a concern for the 40-year-old, who believes things are moving in the right direction.

“He is coming back from a very serious injury, but he remains a goal threat and is always important for his team,” Kompany told Sky Germany.

“He may not yet be at his best level, and that is absolutely fine,” he added.

“He is already on his way back – he doesn’t have to do more than that.”

The 23-year-old Germany international now has four goals and three assists in 14 appearances for Bayern this season.
