Thorgan Hazard: Playing for the same club as Eden would be very difficult

Thorgan Hazard says he would find it 'very difficult' to play for the same club as his brother, Chelsea's Eden Hazard.
Chelsea's Eden Hazard is widely regarded as one of the best players in the world. His younger brother Thorgan may not draw the same amount of attention, but the 25-year-old has really made a name for himself in Germany with his fine performances for Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Thorgan also used to play for Chelsea, but he never made an appearance for the London club. After spending two seasons on loan at Belgian side Zulte Waregem, he was loaned out to Gladbach in 2014 and later signed permanently by 'Die Fohlen'. Since then, the winger has developed into one of the club's most important players.

Speaking to Sport1, Thorgan Hazard says he still believes leaving Chelsea was the right decision and that he would find it 'very difficult' to play for the same club as Eden.

"I'm a different type of player than my brother. Eden is one of the best players in the world. (...) When I played for 'The Blues', I was too young to make the big jump. Chelsea is a huge club with outstanding players. For me, the decision to play for a different team was better," Thorgan Hazard said and added:

"We play together at the Belgian national team although we are unfortunately not always on the pitch at the same time. It feels good to play for your country with your own brother. But in all honesty, it would be very difficult for me to play for the same club as my brother. He is a bigger player than me. I can learn from him and still have a lot to work on."

Thorgan Hazard says he's regularly in contact with Eden, but they only rarely talk about football.

"Sometimes, I watch his games, and he sometimes watches my games. But we don't talk much about football. You may not think so as an outside party, but that's how it is. We rather talk about the family and the children. We have contact almost every day, but football is not the big issue. Eden also gives me no advice. He's just happy for me, and of course, I'm incredibly proud of myself."

Thorgan Hazard has made nine appearances for Borussia Mönchengladbach this season, scoring seven goals and making four assists.
