But now, Amiri is improving and looked ecstatic after scoring against Köln on Matchday 14. Speaking to 'kicker', the midfielder said:
"I was gone and I'm back. I have no words for how I am doing right now. I have never experienced anything like this before: to be dead and to work back like that. This feeling I have right now is indescribable."
Adding, "A year ago I sat at home crying. These are things that no one sees. My father was crying in the stands."
The 26-year-old nearly left again in the offseason, but Xabi Alonso has rewarded his effort in training with more playing time:
"It was hopeless with Seoane. - Since I've returned in the summer, no one can say that I didn't go full throttle in every training. This gives me this inner peace. And thank God, thank God, this will now also be rewarded after the change of coach."
