Bayern Munich have decided against signing Jerome Boateng, according to Bild and Abendzeitung.

Boateng, 35, has been training with Bayern recently in the hope of rejoining his former club.

The Bavarians were considering the possibility of signing the 35-year-old on a short-term deal in order to get some extra depth in defense, with Dayot Upamecano, Matthijs de Ligt and Kim Min-jae the only three senior centre-backs in the squad.

However, it now appears that they have decided against signing the veteran. The fact that Boateng is currently awaiting trial for domestic violence in Bavaria is said to have played a significant role in their decision to reject him.

Boateng played for Bayern between 2011 and 2021, making 363 appearances with 10 goals and 25 assists to his name.
