Boateng issues statement on Bayern rejection

After failing to secure a contract with Bayern Munich, Jerome Boateng has released a statement on his trial with the German champions.
Jerome Boateng was recently allowed to train with Bayern Munich in hopes of rejoining his former club.

However, Bayern ultimately decided against signing the 35-year-old, with his ongoing domestic violence trial reportedly playing a significant role in the decision.

Boateng has now thanked the club, as well as Thomas Tuchel and his coaching staff, for allowing him to train with the team.

"Thanks to the club for letting me prove myself at Säbener Straße and especially to Thomas Tuchel and his coaching staff for the support to have me on the team. It was good to see so many familiar faces and friends again. I wish the team all the best for the season," Boateng wrote on Instagram.

"Also a big thanks for all the messages and the support I received from fans in the past couple of days. I really appreciate every single one of them.

"After the positive feedback about my fitness level from the club, I will continue the training and hard work."

Boateng, 35, last played for Olympique Lyon. He left the French club at the end of last season.
