Report: Bayern make initial contact with Erik ten Hag

Ajax coach Erik ten Hag could be in line to replace Niko Kovac at Bayern München.
Bayern München have established contact with Ajax coach Erik ten Hag, according to Sky.

The 49-year-old is currently considered the most likely replacement for Niko Kovac who was relieved of his duties as Bayern coach on Sunday.

However, ten Hag might not be available until the summer as he's unlikely to leave Ajax during the season.

But if Bayern really want the Ajax coach, it's conceivable that they would be willing to wait for him.

In the meantime, the Bavarians would have to find a short-term solution. For instance, interim coach Hansi Flick could be put in charge until the end of the season.

Ten Hag, who is under contract with Ajax until 2022, recently refused to rule out that he could join Bayern in the future.

The 49-year-old worked as coach of Bayern's reserves from 2013 to 2015.

Arséne Wenger, Ralf Rangnick, Erik ten Hag and Maximiliano Allegri have also been linked with the vacant job as Bayern coach.
