Germany U21 coach Stefan Kuntz has confirmed he has had a conversation with Thomas Müller about the 2020 Summer Olympics.

Kuntz, who will be in charge of Germany's Olympics team, can include three players born before 1 January 1997 in his squad for the tournament, and Müller is seen as a possible option.

"I've talked to him, but also to other experienced players with big names. They all rightly say that they want to wait until May to see how many games they have played, what their contract situation is an whether the Olympics fit into their plans," Kuntz told Sport1.

"I have agreed with Thomas and the other players that we will talk about the situation at the end of April or beginning of May," he said.

Müller, 30, played 100 games for Germany's senior national team before Germany coach Joachim Löw announced in March 2019 that the Bayern star was no longer part of his plans.
