RB Leipzig have confirmed that Emil Forsberg has signed a contract extension with the club.

The Swedish international's deal, which was due to expire in 2022, has been extended until 2025.

"When I came to Leipzig over six years ago, it was a very big step for me. I was 23 years young and moved abroad for the first time. An incredible amount has happened since then," commented Forsberg and added:

"After a difficult first six months, I really took off and we celebrated fantastic successes. Promotion to the Bundesliga, Champions League participation and now the DFB-Pokal final for the second time. They were great and emotional years and I would now like to continue this great time with RB Leipzig.

"It's simply an awesome club and I'm looking forward to the coming years!"

Forsberg has played a total of 211 games for 'Die Roten Bullen', scoring 47 goals and making 56 assists.
